Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Haiti!

As much as I dig it, I don’t read the Toronto Star too often (save for MediaScout days, of course) anymore, so I missed Antonia Zerbisias’ column on Haiti yesterday. Luckily, in a shameless but welcome act of self-promotion, she built on it on her blog yesterday.

To azerb (as she is apparently called in blogoland), I say, welcome to the good fight. For my take on the situation, read this or this or this or this or this or this or this . Or better yet, just read this – one of my finer rants to date.

See? I can play self-promoter too!

In all seriousness though, the lack of coverage of this story is an embarassment.

  1. This story from the New York Times on January 29 gives a good background on recent Haitian history. It doesn’t have a Canadian angle, but it will give you a bit of solid background.

Oh, and a bit of Republican criticism. But it’s the Times, so you knew that.

  2. That’s some nice self-promotion Joe.

I totally agree. Haiti certainly deserves attention. For the past decade and a half they have faced – what’s that? Hamas took charge of the legislature in Palestine? Canadian troops are going to Afghanistan? Iran wants to build nuclear bombs? American soldiers are dying in Iraq?
    Sorry I lost focus.
